On Christmas Eve, I was walking to work when I realise that I was about to break an 8 year tradition that I had started. In my first year at work, I bought myself a mini Christmas tree that I’d put up and decorate my cubicle with every year. This year was such a busy year that I clean forgot about it until Christmas Eve. I guess growing older makes me feel less of an attachment to Christmas than I had when I was a shiny-eyed kid, wishing for a tree surrounded by presents.
I still like Christmas. Not for any religious significance, but for the fact that people just seem happier during that period, and everything is so jolly and bright. The good food helps too. Let’s hope I manage to re-start my tradition next year. I miss decorating that tree.
