What Kind of Legacy are you Leaving Behind?

by Terence

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about life (actually, I do that quite a lot). The other day, I asked myself the question, “What kind of legacy are you leaving behind?”

I ask this because I know people who go to work each day, and they are just doing it out of habit. I don’t see any form of passion or mission. They have the power in their hands to improve things and shape lives, but they hold back. I don’t see them wanting to leave the world/job a better place than before they came along.

I guess this is something that I too struggled with when I first started working, but eventually I found a job that gave me a reason to get up each day and go to work. I realised that it made it easier to put in the hours, and I felt happier for it.

But my question doesn’t just apply to work. I’m trying to apply it to life in general as well. So that’s why I’m asking myself, what legacy am I leaving behind, whose lives am I going to have a positive impact in shaping?
