What is Love?

by Terence

I hesitated before writing this entry as I was telling Joan. The reason is that I feel that people in general don’t like to read happy blog entries. And this one is a happy entry. I was explaining to Dex and Kenneth tonight about how I transformed myself from someone who swore never to marry to someone is going to be a happy husband tomorrow.

I realised sometime back that I was very lucky to find someone like Joan. Someone that I could share my love of photography, food, intellectualisation, computers, and general geekdom with. Someone who was good with my family and other animals, someone who would make a wonderful mother, someone who would be game to try anything and everything without hesitation, and above all, someone who loved me till the end of the earth, despite my many faults. The amazing thing was how we were both right under each other’s noses all this time and I failed to realise how she and I were moving in similar directions. So this is it, I’m going to walk the road of life with this person next to me. Finally. Someone who will share in my adventures and misadventures, and I know that we’ll do it together, through both the good and bad times.

I just wanted to do an entry where this was put down officially in words for all time. And whenever things get rocky, this will be a timely reminder of what we’re doing together. I told Dex tonight that love is not just about passion and intense feelings. The more important component to me is companionship. You are choosing a life companion, and not just a lover. And Joan fits the bill in every way 🙂

I love you honey, and I am very very lucky to have you as my wife, through good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, and I will love you and honour you all the days of my life. Kisses.
